35 join fun at annual Attitash Winterfest

About 35 persons of all ages took a break from shoveling snow to attend the second annual Lake Attitash Winterfest yesterday afternoon on the ice in Merrimac.

The highlight activity was the tug o’ war, won by the east side team after a valiant struggle. Tuggers of all ages joined the competition and were amazed at how evenly the sides were matched. Almost as exciting was the kids’ ice fishing, pulling in a 12-inch pickerel and a couple of yellow perch. (The fish were released after having their pictures taken.)

Frisbee throwing, ring toss and sled rides added to the fun, and there was no shortage of hot drinks, award-winning pumpkin soup, hot dogs, s’mores, and many other winter snacks.

The association board of directors thanks everyone who helped organize the event and all who attended.
