(FAQs = Frequently Asked Questions)
What happens to the $240,000 if we don’t get the grant?
We will apply it towards $51,000 annual treatments and re-apply for the DEP grant each year.
Have you tried seeking funds from Merrimac & Amesbury?
We continue to work with Amesbury and Merrimac. While both towns have contributed in the past and are supportive of this project, neither town is able to commit substantial funds at this time.
Are there other grants we can also apply for?
In 2014, Senator O’Connor Ives managed to get $150,000 included in the Massachusetts Environmental Bond Bill. Representatives Kelcourse and Mirra and Senator O’Connor Ives have been very supportive and worked hard to obtain the release of these funds. There is a great deal of competition for these funds. There is a possibility that the moneys will be released, thus reducing our direct fund raising goal to $90,000, but to date it appears to be unlikely that this will occur. There is no set timeline as to when a decision will be made on these funds. Raising the $240,000 in order to apply for the $360,000 DEP grant really is up to the lake community.
