High Cyanobacteria count

High Cyanobacteria count

We have had a relatively good summer but it has just come to the attention of the LAA and the Amesbury Health Department that the cyanobacteria count in the lake is again high and that cautions should be in place regarding contact with the water. This is the second algae bloom this year.

The green swirls you see in the water now are blue-green algea blooms – cyanobacteria. The blooms do migrate around the lake and up and down in the water column so are not always visible.

In these conditions the State and local Health Dapartments recommend avoiding contact with the water and keeping pets out of the water as they tend to drink the water.
